An external link is one which links to an external site using http:// syntax.
How do I write an external link?
There are several ways you can format an external link:

http://www.google.com→ http://www.google.com -
[http://www.google.com]→ [1] -
[http://www.google.com an external site]→ an external site
Redirection
When an external link is clicked, you may encounter a redirection page called Special:Outbound, where you are notified that you are leaving the site.
