Help:Favicon

- If you are looking for help on changing the wiki logo, see Help:Logo
A favicon (short for 'favorites icon') is a small graphic shown in the browser's address bar, next to the site's name in lists of bookmarks, and, in tabbed browsers, on the tab next to the page's title. Wikia's default favicon is a blue "w". You can upload a new image to give your project a customized icon.
How do I replace the default favicon?
Create an icon (16x16 pixels) from another image file using image editing software or an online favicon generator, then upload the .ico file to the "destination filename" Favicon.ico.
Note: This file must be saved in ICON format, using software designed for generating .ico files -- simply renaming a .jpg/.gif/.png file with an .ico extension will not work.
How do I protect the logo and favicon?
Although vandalism is uncommon, it is recommended that an admin protect the logo and favicon so that only admins can upload new versions. On new wikis, the favicon file name is already protected. Admins can protect these files in the same way as any other page on the wiki.
