Widgets are boxes available on the Monaco Skin that contains a set of links or functions that are useful for your wiki. You can build the widgets to suit your perspective on what's important for your wiki. In addition, as processing power permits, we intend to surface more page-by-page and overall statistical information so you can learn more about how visitors see your wiki.
They can be added to the navigation sidebar, or accessed through the Widget Dashboard.
To explore and add widgets on the supporting skins, choose "Manage Widgets" from the bottom of the drop-down list in your userbar at the top of the page. You will see a row of icons at the top of the article space. You can drag and drop any of these icons into your sidebar. You can also visit Special:Widgets.
Manage Widgets
Clicking on your highlighted user name and icon at the top left of the screen brings down a menu of options including Manage Widgets. This brings up the Widget Bar spanning across the top of the main page, where you can scroll left and right to view, or click directly on the widget icons to drag and drop them to the sidebar.
Widget Dashboard
The Widget Dashboard is where you can put all the widgets you want to review at one time to get a quick snapshot of what is happening on your wiki. Read more about it here.
Full Widgets List
View the complete Widgets list to see the full gallery and explanations of each. This list also behaves like the Widget Bar -- you can click and drag the Widget icons from this list into the right sidebar.
Widgets at Work
Not quite sure what each widget is capable of? Here is a comprehensive list of all widgets and how they should be used. The wrench icon is used to customize settings, and the up/down arrows expand and minimize widgets. Clicking on the 'x' in the right corner closes out the widget, and returns it to your Widget Dashboard.
