Have we been told of the existence of this Wikia?

No, it has not been announced yet as it's still under construction. For now we are just trying to build a comprehensive help system. Our plan in the future is to allow the centrally maintained help pages here to be transcluded on every wiki.

How did I get redirected to this Wikia from Meta?

I don't know, it shouldn't be linked from anywhere yet. Perhaps someone was trying to link to [[Wikia:Help:Something]] ?

Does it copy pages from Central?

Yes, the pages were originally copied from Central, but we are working on rewriting, updating, expanding, illustrating and just generally making everything clearer. When this site is ready, the pages on Central will be replaced with transclusions or redirects.

You are welcome to fix anything here you think needs fixing (useful, well-cropped screenshots are especially welcome), or you may sit back and wait until we are finished.  :) In general, though, please don't publicize this -- it's not a secret but it's not fully helpful yet either.
